For years, a group of dedicated volunteers provided a much needed service to the firefighters of Broward County. They responded to our scenes and gave us cold water, cool towels and food whenever they could to keep us at our peak. The way they provided those services to field personnel, Some good and some bad. They tried to find better ways to enhance the services they provided. They were confronted with financial constraints, political boundaries, and a lack of
personnel.
In 2010, it was suggested that we needed a new approach on how to deliver these services to serve the firefighters of Broward County. The idea was to utilize retired firefighter/paramedic personnel and develop an long term organization.
The South Florida Rehab and Emergency Support Team was
created. It is a non-profit organization, incorporated with the State of Florida and recently achieved non-profit status from the IRS with a 501(c)(3).
